Housing Choice Voucher

(HCV)

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a program that assists low-income individuals and families in search of decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private rental market. Participants that are eligible for assistance will be issued a voucher and begin actively searching for housing that meets required health and safety standards. After suitable housing is found, participants will pay the difference between the rent charged by the landlord and the subsidy that Hocking Metropolitan Housing Authority will pay directly to the landlord.

To be considered eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, applicants must;

  • Meet income guidelines

  • Pass a criminal background check going back seven (7) years

  • Household members must be a citizen or legal resident of the U.S.
